suckmy12inch: (wise enough to play the fool)

I'm still not sure how I feel about roleplaying lately. Hopefully on Tuesday I'll be able to come off hiatus after I've handed in a couple assignments but at the moment, I'm not as enthusiastic as I'd like to be. Before when I've been on hiatus, I couldn't wait to get back to RPing but lately I've been sort of 'eh' about it. But maybe I just need to actually do some tagging and get into it. - SNAP THAT REMINDS ME, I OWE A TAG WITH CROW. Aha, yeah, I was trying some non-committal tagging, so to speak, in DRs and stuff. It does sort of help.

So while I've not been RPing, what's been up? Well, Friday night was a Superhero theme at the Xtension (the 'nightclub' at my university, but it's tiny because my uni is tiny. I didn't have any outfits handy and I was way too lazy to make one, so I cobbled together Trinity from the Matrix - I had some sunglasses, some faux leather trousers (don't ask why) and my friend lent me his long black coat. I think I looked pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

I went home after a few drinks that night and had... well, if you happen to have me added on plurk, you'll know I had a bit of a freakout. I'm not inclined to go into massive details here but I'll expand if anyone wants me to. More importantly, I got myself sorted out.

Yesterday was one of the best days I've had in a long time. Played some Soul Calibur 2 with Darrell and beat him 10-8, which he was less than impressed with, it was hilarious. We went to collect some parcels after that, then grabbed coffee/hot chocolate (the latter was mine) and then at about 2:35 decided we wanted to get out of Lampeter and go to Carmarthen for a while. Something to note about Lampeter: there's nothing here. It's tiny. There is very little to do. No cinema. This is the Urban Dictionary definition and it's surprisingly nice and accurate. Anyway, we grabbed a couple of our other mates and so Darrell, Chris, Rob and I hopped on the bus to Carmarthen. An hour's journey either way on the bus, guh. Also I know nobody knows who these people I've named are, but it's easier than "my friends and I" all the time and ANYWAY WHATEVER

Got to Carmarthen and poked around the shops for a while. I bought the Millennium books from Waterstone's because they were on a 3 for 2 offer (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, etc). I'd mostly wanted to go to Carmarthen because... well, I really fancied a McDonald's but it turned out McD's was a bit of a trek so instead Rob led us to Wetherspoons which I'd a) never been to and b) never heard of anyway. It turned out to be an excellent choice and much, much better than fast food (though I'm still craving chicken nuggets, DAMN YOU LAMPETER AND YOUR LACK OF ANYTHING). Rob also introduced the three of us to a beer called Desperado, insisting that we stick a slice of lime in it. I can't say I'm exactly a connoisseur when it comes to beer, but I do know that Desperado is a million times nicer than Budweiser at least, and most other beers I've ever tried. It's pretty strong stuff too, which figures since it's got tequila in it. We ended up having a couple of beers each, because when we went back to the bus stop, it turned out the next bus wasn't for another 45 minutes so we returned to Wetherspoons for a while instead.

On the bus home, we ended up playing I Spy, which Rob was bit of a dick about because he kept going for the small things that were annoyingly obvious :| the funniest part of the journey was how this sixteen year old girl sat behind us started to join in. We ended up having a bit of a chat with her and also this Tesco's employee sat near us. We kept joking about how taxpayers's money was going to uni students who can't even play a good game of I Spy, whoops. Another entertaining moment was towards the end of the trip when the girl, after hearing me get ribbed on by the boys, ESPECIALLY Rob, said, "Do you always get this? I'd have slapped him by now." But to be honest, if I couldn't deal with their teasing, I wouldn't be mates with them in the first place and I give as good as I get, hah. I tend to elbow them a lot, actually...

Anyway, yes. Afterwards, Darrell buggered off to see his girlfriend and then Chris, Rob and I watched a couple movies together. First we watched Southland Tales which... is probably one of the weirdest films I've seen in a while. It's odd because there are several well-known people in it - Justin Timberlake, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sean William Scott, the Rock, etc, etc. and yet I've never heard of it. The plot's hard to get your head around until right at the end of the film when it doesn't exactly make... sense but it does come together. I really enjoyed it either way. Then we watched Warrior King which is a martial arts movie. I've watched quite a few martial arts films since being here, because Chris and Darrell especially do all sorts, kung fu, karate, jiu jitsu and so on. SO YEAH, this Warrior King film was... well, I liked it but the ending was a bit odd. It had a little more plot than I was expecting, but only barely. After that, I slouched back to my own room and that was the end of a pretty excellent day.

Today was a fairly lazy day. Did a bit of shopping, did my laundry, watched another film called Never Back Down. And I think... yeah, that's about it for this weekend.

What's up with you guys?
